Patent submitted regarding an objective measurement system detecting drug effects (SD-BERA Pharma)

As earlier indicated, the SD-BERA technique may be well suited for detection of the effects of neuroactive substances in the central nervous system. The results from ongoing tests during 2010 investigating several substances have strengthened the hypothesis that this technique can be successfully applied on this area.

The patent application has been sent to the European Patent Organisation and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. SD-BERA Pharma is a measurement system designed for rapid, easy and reliable detection of the effects of substances in the central nervous system and is based on an existing technical platform. Very small activity changes can be detected due to high time resolution, noise reduction and signal amplification. Long-term effects of treatment and pharmacokinetic effects can be identified in real time. There is a clear need for a tool such as SD-BERA Pharma. Application areas are within the clinical psychiatry where SD-BERA Pharma can be used to measure medication effects as well as in the pharmaceutical industry and other research areas where pharmacokinetic effects are of interest to study.
