How it works

Diagnoses of ADHD and autism are related to different parts of the brain. By stimulating the brain and comparing the response to a healthy population, you can get an indication of what disorder the patient may be suffering from, if any. The comparison is performed by the application of various algorithms on the Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) curves. Health care professionals use these key insights to aid in existing psychiatric diagnostic tools and methods.

Measurement

The actual measurement takes 15 to 20 minutes, and is a simple procedure patented by SensoDetect, and can be administered by a trained nurse or caretaker. The patient is seated in a dark and quiet room, and clicks are presented to the patient through headphones, and the brainstem response is collected through five connected electrodes.

Analysis

The collected brainstem activity data is sent to SensoDetect for brain analysis support (BAS). SensoDetect translates the data into an audiogram with curves representing the Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR). The ABR is compared to both the healthy population and diagnosed groups of patients with ADHD and autism to provide unbiased decision support for diagnosis and adequate treatment. Each discrepancy in the curve can be related to one of the diseases. The audiograms are sent to a health care professional, who reviews the results as a complement to other observations in the screening process.
